I have been in the practice of law since 1988 admitted in both Kansas and Missouri. Prior to that I received a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate from the State of Kansas. I have a Bachelors of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree in Accounting from Wichita State University, a Doctorate of Juris Prudence (J.D.) from Washburn University, and attended the University of Missouri at Kansas City to work on a masters of law in taxation.
Criminal - My experience includes serving as Judge, prosecutor, and defense attorney in criminal cases ranging from murder cases on down to traffic cases. I have tried at least 40 jury trials with full and partial acquittals for my clients. I have lost some as well.
Civil - My experience includes serving as Judge, plaintiff/petitioner, and defendant/respondent in all types of civil cases from small claims to complex personal injury cases.
Appellate - I have filed numerous appeals with the appellate courts with success on some of those cases and some with no success.
Estate, Probate, & Wills - I have been involved in estate planning, preparing wills, and probating cases in courts. I don't charge estates based upon a percentage of value as many attorneys do to save my clients money.
Other types of cases - My experience includes countless cases involving divorce, child custody, property settlement, child support, juvenile, child in need of care, commitments, landlord/tenant relations, bankruptcies, Federal court practice, etc.
At this point in time I am no longer interested in taking these types of cases to save time for more complex cases.
Complex Criminal Cases - I have the time, interest, and experience to take on complex criminal cases from Murder and lower down on a retainer or court appointed at your request to the Court. I would consider cases of innocent people that want to proceed to jury trial. If you are wanting a plea bargain then get someone else. As in any criminal case, the odds are very high against the accused who is highly likely to be convicted but you never know what a jury will do until you try and you could get a lesser included offense if nothing else. Sentencing is a complex matter where prison time, community corrections, jail time, and probation all depend on how the Court views the convicted person.
Estate, Probate, & Wills - I am available to handle these matters on a select basis. Estate planning has become so complicated that there is really no such thing as a simple will anymore.
Immigration - I have been studying immigration law and would consider taking a case depending upon the particular situation. Hablo y intendo espanol un poco.
